For reasons, I cannot sleep, so here I am...blogging away. Very exciting. More seriously, I managed to handle some texts from friends, do more paperwork, etc. Rah. I also watched the "Atomic People" documentary on PBS, the one about the survivors the atomic bombings... I mean, it was interesting, and I do feel badly for them, but... it really whitewashed why we had to drop the bombs in the first place. I mean, a cursory look at the historical record... Unit 731, all of their atrocities in China and elsewhere, the fact that the Japanese were training kids to blow themselves up on tanks...I think most historians and WWII nerds (I plead guilty) would say the bombs won the war at less cost in lives... if this is what PBS is putting out it is a good thing their funding is being cut...

This could be me, but this is something that the GOP should have been hitting on since day one, and there is certainly no reason why it cannot be done now... you could argue that some of the inflation era was due to this, and at time when the economy is a hot mess... well, it would be a nice touch to say we care.

You know, this is something we should be stressing as well... namely, getting people -- mainly young men, but anyone -- the proper training and skills they need to get into the job market. Considering the lack of skilled tradespeople, and the unfilled manufacturing jobs we have -- to say nothing of stuff like shipbuilders -- this should be something the administration should be stressing. I realize in a day of cost-cutting... but this is important too, and if we have spent for 50 years on crappy public TV....
