Business and Busy-ness
Busy day Saturday, and today was catch up day, and I largely did that; answered some emails, cleaned out some links, updated the food pantry budget for the quarter, placed a produce order (whether or not it arrives is an open question), and registered for Virtus training. Sigh. I am not really sure I need to go -- I am not really in contact with unescorted minors or vulnerable populations; in most cases, wayward youthful volunteers are with their parents. But, I do have the mantle of leadership, so... of course, I had planned to do more today, but I ran out of time -- took a 3-mile walk outside, went to the Lakewood/Cleveland border to take Holy Communion/chat with my new Polish friend, and hit the gym (hard). Alas. Tomorrow is another day, and a new week, so I can at least get some work done!
The Ezra Klein Show: This Conservative Thinks America’s Institutions ‘Earned’ Their Distrust on Apple Podcasts
I listened to this one, and it was quite good, especially at the 32-minute mark, when she really took apart the teachers for their role in the decline of students' educational prowess. It was good to see, even if she didn't get a chance to really go off on them. It IS the Ezra Klein show, I guess.
I noted that the marijuana initiative got on the ballot for November. I was a little surprised I didn't see any in my neck of the woods, or through my travels. Not saying the West Side is a paragon of this support, but I suspect people are more tolerant of it -- why not allow the thing to be sold legally and let us derive some benefit it, though I think we all know either governments will tax it too much, or blow the money anyways, instead of cutting taxes somewhere else. Sigh.
